CHICAGO FLIGHT: Southwest announces a new non-stop flight to Chicago

Tuesday, Southwest and its newly acquired Airtran, is announcing a new fall non-stop flight.

Airtran will begin a nonstop service between Des Moines and Chicago Midway.

That will operate 7-days a week, starting September 30th.

At the same time, Southwest will end Airtran service between Des Moines and Milwaukee.

Southwest Airlines announced its purchase of Airtran Airways in January.

That means Southwest is taking over operation in 22 cities including Des Moines.
