NOROVIRUS OUTBREAK: Fifty students were sent home from school in Independence after showing symptoms of the norovirus

Health officials say dozens of Independence students a suspected of having the norovirus. 

Dozens of students have gotten sick in the Independence school district and health officials suspect a norovirus outbreak is behind the illnesses. 

Fifty students were sent home between Thursday and Friday last week. 

Students were complaining of diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps, symptoms commonly associated with the norovirus.
