Twelve dogsat the Cedar Rapids Humane Society are getting ready to go to new homes.

The dogs are among the 88 rescued from a rural Sac County farm in January.

The animals were sick and covered in their own filth.  They’re now healthy, clean, and ready for new homes.

Families interested are placed in a drawing to make selection fair.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa adopted out six of the 18 dogs from Sac County in their care.

Seven of the dogs will be put into foster homes to make them more accustomed to being around people before they can be adopted.

The remaining five are receiving medical treatment or will soon be ready for adoption.
