The former Drake student accused of sexual assaulting his fraternity brother took the stand in his own defense Thursday.

Prosecutors say Anthony Bertolone videotaped himself engaging in sex acts with the alleged victim, who they say was passed out or asleep at the time. They say the alleged victim may have even been drugged by Bertolone.

The 22-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

Bertolone says that he and the alleged victim had a sexual relationship, which the victim denies. Bertolone claims that, after police became involved, the notes and cards he exchanged with the alleged victim vanished from his room. He claims those items would have proved they were a couple.

Bertolone now lives in Kansas and says he was ostracized from the fraternity because of the accusations.
