Wednesday, Governor Terry Branstad signed into law a bill that cracks down on human traffickers.

Advocates say it gives prosecutors more power to hold predators accountable.

The bill specifies the people purchasing sex from trafficking victims can’t use ignorance about a victim’s age as a defense.

The bill also clarifies language about pictures and videos taken of minors and makes the images of each minor a separate offense. That allows for increased charges and harsher penalties.
