The boys of summer are back at Principal Park. The Iowa Cubs take on Round Rock Express at 6:35 p.m. And, leaders at Principal Park are expecting a big crowd.

Iowa Cubs Broadcaster Deene Ehlis says the nice weather has put people in the baseball mood. He says, “Typically we might have some cold days, some rainy days. There’s been snow in the air at times. So, that will hold it back to 3 to 4,000. I think with a good night we could have 6 to 8,000. If things go really well, we could have 10,000 for opening night.”

Ehlis says fans will enjoy new promotions at Principal Park this year.  Games on Thursday will be “unplugged,” a special promotion featuring live music before the game.  Also new is the Budweiser Club.  Fans can buy a table of four for $200 and get all you can eat foods like hotdogs, chicken wings and snacks, along with soda and beer.

Ehlis says the nice weather in the off season has also been a boost for the team.  He says, “People are more excited for baseball, looking forward to spring weather. We had a precursor to spring with late winter being so nice, but people are excited for baseball. It’s helped with the field getting it in condition. It’s in great shape.”

Tickets are still available for the game. You can buy them online.
