ASSAULT CASE: Police Ask For Public’s Help

Des Moines Police are asking for the public’s help to solve an assault that happened at the end of March.

Police say Benjamin Chappell was walking home just before 2:40 a.m. on March 31st when he was assaulted. Chappell told officers a black SUV pulled up next to him near Beaver and Forest Ave. and a passenger got out and assaulted him. The man got back into the SUV and it drove away.

Police are now releasing a description of the suspect in the hope of solving the case. The suspect is described as a white male, five-foot-eight, 180 pounds, in his early 20s and bald.

Chappell’s family is also offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction in the case.
