Governor Branstad is taking an aerial tour of storm damaged Creston Sunday.

Branstad issued a disaster declaration for Fremont and Union counties.  The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of the storm.

Governor Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds toured the area Sunday afternoon.

Branstad left Camp Dodge in a Black Hawk helicopter along with Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Mark Schouten and Brig. General Roy Webb from the Iowa National Guard.

He met Lt. Gov. Reynolds and local officials at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston at 1:00 p.m.

The group is surveying damage caused by Saturday’s storms in Creston, Southwest Iowa Community College and local neighborhoods that were affected by the storm.
