A new world record was set on the first night of Veishea this year and no, it wasn't a record for the most dumpsters simultaneously set aflame. There was no violence, but there was an altercation between a gorilla and banana.

A new record for the most people playing a single game of knockout was set at Hilton Coliseum. 571 people participated, breaking the old record of 422, set at the final four in New Orleans earlier this month.

Things got a little testy when Gary gorilla spotted Brian the banana, but this isn’t 2004, Veishea is civil now and both were disqualified.

But the record stands. ISU head coach Fred Hoiberg said that he had a scholarship for the winner; unfortunately, the winner had a pony-tail and was wearing a batman shirt.
