Two central Iowans have high hopes of competing in the London Olympics this summer.

Shawn Johnson and Gabby Douglas are working hard to make the women's gymnastics team

Shawn won four medals during the 2008 Olympics - one of them a gold on the balance beam.

Gabby has received multiple medals in national and international competitions.  She's hoping to make her Olympic debut this summer.

Both train at Chow's Training Center in West Des Moines.

Gabby says, “He was just telling us the other day, when the hand goes up it's not backing down, it’s not chickening out... Just show ‘em what you got, go out there and prove to the world you can do it.

“I can't believe it’s a hundred days out,” says Shawn.  “But feeling pretty good. I'm kind of accepted any outcome, and what’s going to come of it.  I’m just putting in the time that I can and taking it one day at a time and hoping that the knee and the body holds up.”

Shawn hurt her knee in a skiing accident in 2010 and has gone through extensive rehab.

She says at 20, she's the grandma of the group.
