Soon you and your pooch can team up to save lives.

On Friday, May 4th, the Iowa Veterinary Specialties is holding a blood drive.  It's for doggie donors and their owners.

There will be a special place set up for humans to give blood.  Then people can find out if their dogs can donate too.

Eligible dogs are at least 50 pounds and between the ages of two and four.

Vets will test the blood type first and make sure your pup is healthy enough to donate.

Iowa Veterinary Specialists says it uses the blood in its 24-hour Emergency Room.

Iowa Veterinary Specialties is located at 6110 Creston Avenue in Des Moines.
