A former Iowa slaughterhouse manager wanted on immigration charges is fighting extradition back to the U.S.

Hosam Amara was a manager at Agriprocessors, Inc. in Postville when it was raided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in 2008.

Amara escaped to Israel after the raid. He was arrested there in March.

Amara is appealing to the Israeli Supreme Court to avoid returning to Iowa to face charges.

Former Agriprocessors CEO Shalom Rubashkin is serving a 27 year prison sentence for fraud related to the slaughterhouse.
