A Des Moines police officer is facing legal troubles after he was arrested on Tuesday.

Investigators say Officer Brandon Singleton crashed into a parked car on East Ovid then left the scene. He later called for a service vehicle to help him change a flat tire.

Investigators say the damage to the car wasn't consistent with a flat tire. Officers also say they found meth and marijuana in his squad car.

Officer Singleton is charged with a hit and run accident along with possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He is currently on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Singleton has been with the department since July of 2007.
