An eastern Iowa doctor is accused of running a substance abuse program without a license.

As part of that program, authorities say Doctor Frank Lamp of Grundy Center was prescribing the highly addictive pain killer methadone.

Lamp was warned once by the attorney general's office to stop prescribing the drug.

Lamp runs a private practice and works at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

The hospital has placed him on paid leave.
