TORCH RUN: Special Olympics Begins

Hundreds of law enforcement officers are making their way across the state on foot.

It's the 26th Annual Special Olympics Torch Run.

Thursday was the final leg from Des Moines to Ames.  The summer games are being held Thursday through Saturday at Iowa State University.

This year, 3,000 athletes are participating.

The opening ceremonies will be held at Hilton Coliseum at 7:00 on Thursday.
