Gov. Terry Branstad’s summer travel plans have expanded to include a trip to China.

Branstad announced Friday he is accepting an invitation from Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping to visit China on a trade mission. The trip is scheduled for May 29th through June 5th.

Also participating in the tour is Iowa Economic Development Authority Director Debi Durham, who along with Branstad, will take part in meetings promoting economic development partnerships between Iowa and China.

Vice President Jinping visited Iowa in February.

Gov. Branstad is also visiting South America this summer on another trade trip. He’ll be discussing trade opportunities in Brazil and Chile from July 21st through July 28th.
