Authorities have released the names of two men shot to death Thursday at a Des Moines trucking company and also arrested another person in the case.

Des Moines police say 30-year-old Serif Hidic and 49-year-old Robert Smoot were killed by 39-year-old Ronald Hawkinson, a former employee of LCS Logistics, Thursday afternoon. The shooting happened at 1928 SE 15th Street, where LCS Logistics leases space from Seibert Trucking.

Police responded to the location around 5:00 p.m. Thursday after a 911 call was made. Nobody spoke directly to the dispatcher, but an argument was overheard followed by what sounded like gunshots.

The bodies of Hidic and Smoot were found when police arrived and did a sweep of the property. It appears they died of gunshot wounds.

During the investigation Hawkinson was identified as a person of interest. Police say he had been terminated from LCS Logistics and was disgruntled. Hawkinson was located in Winterset and taken to Des Moines for questioning. Following questioning, he was charged with two counts of first degree murder.

Hawkinson made an appearance Friday morning in jail court. His preliminary hearing is set for May 29th.

He is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $500,000.

Police have also arrested 41-year-old Rhonda Plew and charged her with accessory after the fact. She is being held in the Madison County Jail.
