Iowa’s April unemployment rate dipped slightly from the previous month.

Iowa Workforce Development says April saw an unemployment rate of 5.1 percent, a tenth of a percent down from March’s rate of 5.2 percent.

It’s the fourth month in a row the unemployment rate has decreased in Iowa.

“Job growth in the state’s construction industry has been particularly strong in 2012, signaling a turnaround in an industry that was adversely affected by the housing downturn,” said Teresa Wahlert, IWD director.

The national unemployment rate for April was 8.1 percent.
