Military moms and spouses attended a special lunch Friday, where they were able to share their feelings about having a loved one serving overseas.

Susan Kern of Waukee says her son is in the Army, and currently serving in Kuwait.   She is among the 100 women invited to a special lunch.

It's a salute to Iowa women who have family members involved in the military.

Lieutenant governor Kim Reynolds spoke at the event.  She says the family members left at home are as important as those serving overseas.

Friday's luncheon is the second one sponsored by KIOA radio.
