This week police officers across the nation have been honored for their service.

Friday morning, two Iowa officers who died in the line of duty were honored during a ceremony at the Iowa state capitol.

The names of Officer Roger Hildreth and Iowa State Trooper Mark Toney were added to the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial.

Officer Hildreth suffered a fatal heart attack while running at the police department's gym. Trooper Toney died in a car crash while he was in pursuit of a vehicle.

There are now 166 names on the state memorial.
