The trial of an Iowa City man accused of attacking a police officer will take place in September.

Twenty-year-old Branden Plummer is charged with attempted murder and willful injury.

Plummer is accused of attacking Iowa City police sergeant Brandon Krei last November. Witnesses say Plummer choked the officer until he passed out and then slammed his head into the ground.

Plummer faces 30-years in prison when his trial begins on September 24th.
