A house fire caused Ames firefighters to close the 800 block of Duff Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Around 4:00 crews were called to the 800 block of Duff for a fire in a vacant house.

Firefighters entered the home to check for any people or pets, but found none.  When the fire spread, firefighters had to be pulled out of the home.

An Arial truck was brought in to pour water on top of the structure as flames broke through the roof.

Neighbors say the house has been empty for a month and is on the market, but one neighbor said he saw someone in the home earlier today moving things around.

The fire is still under investigation.
