BOAT ACCIDENT: Four Bodies Found

The bodies of four missing boaters were recovered. 

All four victims were in their early twenties and their bodies were recovered within about 100 yards of where the collision happened in about 10-12 feet of water. 

DNR officials say none of the victims were wearing life jackets. 

The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  Two jon boats, one carrying a single person and the other carrying 11 people, crashed in the O’Connell Slough area of the Mississippi River near Burlington. 

Four people were killed and 8 were injured. 

One of the people injured was air-lifted to the University Hospitals in Iowa City and the other seven were transported to Great River Medical Center in Burlington.
