Even though she’s not competing, there’s a good chance that we’ll see Shawn Johnson in London this summer.

While in London, she can help cheer on another West Des Moines teen who did qualify for the Olympics this weekend.

Nineteen-year-old Miranda Leek is officially part of the US Olympic Archery Team.    The Dowling Catholic graduate solidified her position Sunday afternoon.  Leek will compete in the recurve event.

If Leek captures gold in London, she won’t be Iowa’s only female archer to accomplish the task.

In 1972, Doreen Wilbur won gold at the Olympics in Munich, Germany.  A statue in her honor now stands in the Jefferson town square
