A Churdan man drowned Saturday evening at Lake Panorama.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Barry Blanchfield jumped off a boat into the water to get a hat, and went under the water.

Witnesses and lake patrol then pulled him out of the water. Panora paramedics tried to revive Blanchfield, but he later died at the hospital.

The sheriff’s office is still investigating the drowning. Deputies say alcohol was not a factor.
