A DeSoto man is being held in the Madison County Jail after authorities say he shot his father early Monday morning.
A 911 call was made just before 5:00 a.m. Monday by a female reporting a shooting in the 1900 block of 105th Street, two miles east of Earlham.
When authorities arrived they found 45-year-old Howard Clayton Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound He was in the doorway of an outbuilding on the property. He was taken by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital. His condition is unknown.
Madison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested his son, 22-year-old Nicholas Clayton, in connection with the shooting at 6:17 a.m.
Nicholas Clayton has been charged with one count of willful injury and additional charges are pending.
