A metro store is offering a $5,000 reward and making changes to its security plan following a Tuesday morning break-in.

Police say someone broke through the front door of Christopher's Fine Jewelry on Merle Hay Road just before 1:00 a.m. Store officials say the thief smashed jewelry cases and took off with about $45,000 worth of items.

Police are looking through security video in hopes of identifying the suspect.

This is the third time the store's been broke into this year and to stop other robberies, starting Tuesday night the store will be protected by armed security overnight.

The store is open for business.

If you have any information on the break-in, you're asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400.
