A disgraced former Des Moines police officer was arrested Thursday morning and charged with domestic abuse.

Pleasant Hill Police say they were called to the townhome he and his wife Tracey Singleton used to share at 3:51 a.m. When they arrived they learned Tracey had gone to the home to check on Singleton, but he was not there. She kicked in the door to gain entry and Brandon Singleton arrived shortly after.

The couple spoke amicably for a short time then Brandon Singleton told Tracey to leave. Police say she refused and Brandon dragged her down the stairs and out of the house. That’s when she called police.

Brandon Singleton was booked into the jail at 5:41 a.m. Thursday but has since bonded out. Tracey Singleton was cited for third degree burglary and released.

Singleton was fired from the Des Moines Police Department in May after an investigation into a hit and run with his patrol car. Drugs were found in Singleton’s car following the April incident.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of hit and run, possession of marijuana, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
