A fire at Iowa State University affected commuters’ drive to work Friday morning.
The fire started around 8:00 a.m. in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Ames Laboratory in the Metals Development building. It’s operated by the university.
The fire was contained to the second floor electrical room and didn’t involve any dangerous chemicals.
No one was hurt in the fire. There is no word yet on what caused it.
Crews shut down Pammel Drive was shut down for a short time while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
