ARMY DEATH: Iowa Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

The wife of an Iowa soldier says her husband has been killed while serving in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense confirmed the death of 25-year-old Sgt. James Skalberg. Skalberg grew up in Emerson and graduated from Nishna Valley High School.

He was serving on active duty with the U.S. Army when he was killed on June 27th when the vehicle he was traveling in was hit with an IED. 

Skalberg leaves behind an 11-month-old son.
