FLASHING YELLOW: Arrows At Intersections

You've probably seen them around town and if not, you'll see them soon. The Federal Highway Administration is adopting the flashing yellow arrow as a national standard for left turns. The blinking light means you must yield to on-coming traffic and pedestrians. A national study found flashing yellow left-turn arrows are better understood than traditional yield-on-green signs. The Iowa D.O.T says cities across the state are working to upgrade their signals.
