Developers working to transform the Field of Dreams movie site tried to dispel some of the community’s fears during a public forum on Sunday.

“Some of the new information we had tonight was all about staffing, the wages, who will be here, how it’s played, how the games will happen, so the community got a better feeling for traffic: how things will flow in and out of the facility. I think they’re much better informed now than they were before,” says prospective developer Denise Stillman.

Developers want to turn the site into a 24-field youth softball and baseball tournament facility called “All-Star Ball Park Heaven.”

While some see the new attraction as a good thing for the community, others worry thousands of visitors could impact medical response times and use limited city resources.

The developers say the plan goes before the Dyersville planning and zoning commission Monday.
