Newton native Sara Haines, landed a high profile job in broadcasting. She is the feature/roving reporter for the NBC News TODAY Show located in New York. She started as an NBC Page, and landed a paid job as someone who handled VIP passes to the show. Then she began doing web-only interviews with celebrities for a blog. That caught on, and landed Sara in front of the camera.

Last week she was in Iowa to do a story about what it's like to detassel, a job she held while a high school student at Newton High. She also came to do a story on Maytag Blue Cheese Farms. Even though she doesn't live in Newton anymore, she is a big fan of the Blue Cheese, and has given it to her co-workers Hoda Kotb, and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Her story on detasseling is slated to air in mid-August, while the Maytag Blue Cheese story is slated to run in October.
