The heat is a big concern this week as thousands of cyclists ride across the state. The first day of RAGBRAI took off out of Sioux Center this morning. Bikers rode 54 miles to Cherokee for their first overnight stop.

The Iowa State Patrol is following along with the riders to direct traffic and make sure they stay safe. Sergeant Scott Bright says a few cyclists are being treated for heat exhaustion as well as bumps and bruises from a few spills, so far...so good.
