Officials say construction crews are to blame for a small fire at a Des Moines elementary school Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to Studebaker Elementary at 300 East County Line Road around 11:00 a.m. When they arrived they saw smoke coming from the roof.

Authorities say a construction worker was using a torch to cut items for the roof when some nearby items caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly and say there isn’t much damage.

Construction workers were back on the job within the hour.
