A Des Moines woman charged with first degree arson for setting her mother-in-law’s house on fire will not have a trial.

Thirty-two-year-old Lesley Duckworth was scheduled to go on trial Monday. Last week she changed her plea from not guilty and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second degree arson.

Investigators say in May Duckworth lit paper and other materials on fire in the basement of the home in the 1300 block of West Street after an argument.

She will be sentenced next month.
