The 2012 Iowa State Fair wrapped up on Sunday, but attendance wasn’t quite as high as organizers had hoped.

Officials said they were hoping to break attendance records due to the nice weather, but they came in about 16,000 shy.

This year, attendance came in at 1,097,142 people.  That’s the second largest crowd on record.

The current record attendance was set in 2009 with more than 1.1 million people.
