A suspect linked to an alleged sex assault in Story County will be examined to see if he’s competent to stand trial.

Wednesday a judge approved an order sending 20-year-old Mason Reilly of Ames to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale for an evaluation.

Reilly has entered a not guilty plea to 2nd degree sexual abuse.

Sixteen-year-olds, James Carsel of Boone and David Price of Ames, are also charged with 2nd degree sexual abuse in connection with the case. They are accused of abducting a 17-year-old girl from her family’s home in rural Hamilton in July.

The three allegedly took her to Peterson Park near Ames and raped her.
