Fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in a vacant home overnight.

Fire fighters were called to the home at 2028 27th Street just before midnight.

When they arrived, they found flames coming from the roof.

It took crews about 40 minutes to put out the fire.

Neighbors say the home was vacant and had been for nearly two years.

On Sunday the realtor held an open house at the home.

But at this time, District Fire Chief Joe Giudicessi says he doesn’t know what caused the fire. “It appears it started in the attic.  We didn’t find any fire in the structure below the ceiling level.”

Giudicessi could not say if the home is a complete loss, but did say there is significant damage.
