Long time… no blog.

I was sick for several days a few weeks ago.  I hate using sick days.

I was back at work for a few days, then on vacation.  I love vacation.  What I don’t love is the first few days after vacation.  I can’t fit into any of my pants and I’m buried in email and voice mail and feeling flustered.

Charleston is one of the neatest places I’ve ever visited… a beautiful city full of history, dozens of amazing places to eat, several beaches… Michael and I wish we’d had more time there.

One of our big “touristy” treks was ruined by a celebrity wedding.  We planned to spend most of last Sunday at Boone Hall Plantation.  When we got there we were told the entire place was shut down for the day.  What?!?!?  I was so disappointed.  It turns out Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were getting hitched.  We also suspect they had the top floor at our hotel rented out that night… the guy at the front desk freaked out when we were asking him about the wedding and rumors about Hollywood types being in the area.  We had to fly back home on Monday so I guess Boone Hall will have to be our excuse for making another trip to the region some day.

A random thing I’m noticing … a horrifying number of people don’t wash their hands after using the restroom.  I’m turning into one of those germaphobes who constantly washes her hands, uses hand sanitizer, pushes doors open with a foot or an elbow, uses paper towels to turn door handles… I am just so disgusted by lack of hygiene.  Ick.

We now have i-pads at the anchor desk instead of a stack of paper scripts.  This is very weird for me.  I’ve always had a pile of scripts in front of me and a pen in my hand when I’m anchoring.  I’ve never totally trusted the teleprompter (with good reason).  The past two days have felt so strange.  I’m terrified that the program on the i-pad is going to implode.  I feel like something’s missing if I don’t have a pen in my hand, but why do you need a pen when there’s no paper?  I feel old.  JB gets back from vacation next week – I can’t wait to see and hear his reaction to this new addition.
