NATIONAL GUARD: Iowa Infantry Division Honored

The Department of Defense awarded the 34th Infantry Division of the Iowa National Guard the “Citizen Patriot Unit Award.”

The 34th was a part of the largest call-up of Iowa National Guard soldiers since World War II.

The unit deployed to Afghanistan in July of 2010 and returned in July of last year.

The division suffered four casualties during the year-long deployment.
