A historic flag was recently donated to the Davenport Goodwill store.

When the store first received the flag they placed it on their online auction website.  Bids started coming in for over $4,000.  That’s when the company knew there was something special about it.

After taking a closer look they found an inscription on the flag saying it was captured from Japanese Imperial Marines during World War II.

The Goodwill didn’t feel right about selling an important piece of history, so they donated it to the World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana to preserve it.
