The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has released the name of a man who drowned Sunday in the Wapsipinicon River.

Fifty-two-year-old Wylie Treadway of Wyoming, Iowa was fishing with 60-year-old Douglas Berkhoff in the backwater of the river when the flat bottom boat they were in overturned. Investigators say Treadway stood up and leaned on the same side of the boat as Berkhoff, causing the boat to overturn.

Both men were thrown into the water. Berkhoff was able to grab a life jacket and swam to shore but Treadway drowned.

The accident happened about three miles south of Wyoming.
