HEALTHY KIDS: Two Norwalk Schools Honored

Two Norwalk schools are being honored for efforts to make kids' healthier.

The US Department of Agriculture's mascot helped celebrate the awards Wednesday.

Don Oviatt Elementary School is being awarded the bronze award of distinction.  It's given to schools that give top priority to healthy foods and plenty of exercise.

Wednesday morning the school held an assembly to celebrate the honor.

It included the schools special "firework" dance that's designed to get kids moving.

Lakewood Elementary School in Norwalk received the Gold Award.  There, recess was moved before lunch, which studies show is beneficial to kids' health.
