An Ogden man is in jail facing a first degree murder charge. Investigators say he admitted to killing his wife.

Around 10:00 Sunday morning, crews went to 101 West Cherry Street in Ogden after receiving a 911 call.

Police found 28-year-old Josh Powell waiting outside the home. Officers found 25-year-old Jaclyn Powell dead inside.

Court records say he told officers he got into a fight with this wife Saturday night and hit her. The records show he said he checked her pulse and realized she didn’t have one.

He left the home and returned Sunday morning and called 911.

Powell is now charged with first degree murder. He’s being held at the Boone County Jail on a $2 million bond.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy on Jaclyn Powell Monday.
