UNI President Ben Allen is coming to the defense of a student-soldier who is being penalized by a professor for missing a test due to military service.

James Roethler is a UNI freshmen and an Iowa National Guard Soldier.  Earlier this semester, Roethler missed a test while away at training for the Guard.

Roethler’s professor says she doesn’t consider that a reasonable absence and won’t allow Roethler to make up the test.

Reothler is appealing his professor’s decision; President Ben Allen says he strongly disagrees with the professor’s actions.
