Traffic is now moving again after a semi fire caused the shut down of southbound I-35 just south of West Des Moines.

A semi caught fire just before noon Thursday in the southbound lanes of I-35 near the Grand Ave. exit. The road was closed between the Grand Avenue exit and the Mills and Civic Parkway exit for several hours.

One lane of southbound traffic is now open but officials say it could be hours before the other lane is open.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and take a different route.

No injuries were reported from the fire.
