An arrest has been made in an accident that killed two people from Marshalltown last week.

Twenty-two-year-old Armando Garcia Chavarria has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of serious injury by vehicle.

Marshalltown police say Garcia Chavarria was driving in the early morning hours of November 1st when he lost control of his vehicle at 13th Avenue and East State Street near Marshalltown. The vehicle climbed the bank of a bike path, then crossed it and came down the other side and landed on its side in Linn Creek.

Six people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and all six needed medical attention. Two of the passengers succumbed to their injuries. Twenty-year-old Chendo Quezada and four-month-old Dylan Quiros, both of Marshalltown, died.

A 17-year-old female from the accident remains hospitalized.

Garcia Chavarria was arrested Tuesday. He is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a bond of $100,000.
