OFFICER SHOT: Marshalltown Suspects In Court

Two men suspected of robbing a credit union in Marshalltown at gunpoint faced a judge for the first time over the weekend.

Police say 22-year-old Ben Crisantos and 22-year-old Abel Ramirez robbed the Lennox Employees Credit Union on Friday then led officers on a short chase. Officers say Crisantos fired at Officer Vern Jefferson, hitting him in the leg.

Crisantos was hit in the hip by a shot from Officer Jefferson.

Ramirez and Crisantos are being held in the Marshall County Jail. Both are charged with armed robbery.  Crisantos is also charged with attempted murder.

A preliminary hearing is set for November 14th and additional charges for both suspects are pending.
