RESTAURANT FIRE: Montana Mike’s Burns

Des Moines firefighters were called out Tuesday morning on a fire at a restaurant on the city’s north side.

The fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. at Montana Mike’s. It’s just north of Interstate 35-80, on Northeast 14th Street.

Firefighters say the heavy fire damage inside means the restaurant is a total loss. The cause of the fire is still being looked into but investigators say it started in the back of the restaurant in an area where office equipment, storage, and laundry machines are located.

Crews were still on scene for several hours. battling hot spots.

Firefighters say it appears there was no one inside the restaurant at the time of the fire.
